【 工作坊簡介 About the Workshop 】
Food, whose presence seems to be taken for granted in our day-to-day activities, actually is connected in subtle ways with our Daily Life, that go beyond that of a mere basic necessity. Artists are adept at uncovering these latent or minute links which are transformed and presented to the public, and explored for the various meanings hidden behind Food in society, history, or even personal experiences.
This workshop explores, from a sculptural perspective, how Food and Daily Life are transformed into works of art. By providing an accessible introduction to contemporary sculpture concepts and through hands-on practice, this workshop deepens the participants' knowledge of sculpture materials and further familiarizes them with various aspects of contemporary art.
【 講者介紹 About the Lecturers 】
Architectural space, residential in particular, remains a major focus throughout artist LIN, Yu-Ting's works. Cake House (2009) series of works' central theme is living environment, its subjects—houses, houses with parking spaces, apartments, and rooftop additions—represent examples of Taiwanese vernacular architecture from the 1960s to 1980s.These familiar sights are reimagined visually and gustatorily, through the art of cake decorating, to convey the warmth and delight evoked by the home according to the vernacular architectural traditions.
Since 2017, LIN has begun to recreate post-war Taiwan residential landscapes, formed by cookie-cutter housing developments, in the style of early hand-drawn architectural rendering. Long faded in our collective memory, what the home aspired to be, is presented in a juxtaposition between the intention and the results.
