楊慶懿 | YANG Ching-Yi
Born into a family with origins in Hefei, Anhui in 1946, YANG Ching-Yi grew up in Donggang, Pingtung and encountered the world of painting at the age of 40. Yang studied Chinese painting under HUANG Lei-Sheng, the master of the Lingnan School of Painting, and was introduced to the world of paper art at the introduction of TONG Yao. Chang Chun Cotton Paper Store provides beautiful hand dyed cotton paper that creates works with qualities unique from the characters of Chinese ink painting and Japanese Washi art by replacing the brush techniques with the method of tearing and molding added with the Lingnan style.
YANG Ching-Yi was a retired counseling teacher at Taipei Municipal Jieshou Junior High School and teaches the student Cotton Paper Tearing Drawing clubs. Each Cotton Paper Tearing Drawing gives the students a sense of satisfaction and achievement. During retirement, Yang continues to teach cotton paper tearing drawings at Fo Guang Shan Open University and Xindian Social Welfare Building.
