本次展出的一系列「非文字」的抽象書寫,雖然乍看像是抽象畫,其實是用草書或行書的筆法、筆意或線條中的某一筆,來放大、聚焦於單一書寫表現,其本質與創作基礎仍是以書寫為其底蘊。

本系列創作源自於過去幾年藝術家頻繁搭乘高鐵往返台北與高雄六龜兩地,觀看高速疾駛的沿途車窗景像,一幕幕無法定格的稻田農舍與城市阡陌交織出的影像,動盪而飄忽渺茫。為了抒發這種虛幻無實的視覺衝擊,所帶來情緒上的不安與失落,藝術家改以竹製排筆沾墨,在顏色鮮豔的彩紙上進行一次性的書寫創作,一次僅一筆、下筆無悔。寫作過程中的即興與不確定性,被滴下的墨痕、濺開的墨點全數紀錄下來,成為一種具解放意義的書寫療癒。

The series of "non-character" abstract calligraphy in this exhibition may at first glance resemble abstract painting, but are in fact, calligraphy works written in the techniques, imagery, or specific brushstroke of cursive or semi-cursive scripts. The parts are magnified to allow viewers to focus on a singular method of writing expression, but the essence and creative foundation of the work is still rooted in calligraphy.

This series of works originated from the artist’s frequent commute between Taipei and Liugui, Kaohsiung on the High Speed Rail for the past few years. The artist glanced out onto the shifting views outside his window, the fleeting rice paddies and farm houses weaving into images with entwined city roads, ephemeral and ambivalent. To portray this surreal visual experience and the anxiety and sense of loss it evokes, the artist used bamboo flat brushes dipped into ink to create calligraphy writings on paper with vibrant colors. LEE only puts down one brushstroke at a time without any revisions. The improvisation and uncertainty throughout the creative process are recorded by the ink drops and ink splatters, forming into a therapeutic and liberating writing process.

民國78年藝文中心成立之初即在五樓成立「藝文展覽室」,專業的展場有著軌道投射燈與正式展版以供中西畫作、雕塑與攝影作品的展出。在近年的展場改善工程中改名為「藝文空間」,長期以「機構策展」的概念策劃當代藝術展覽、在當代攝影領域也多有著墨。
