Installation work Four Cardinal Principles
藝術家 | 楊秀卓
Artist | YEUNG Sau-Churk
YEUNG Sau-Churk and a group of other artists arranged an art event at Victoria Park after the Tiananmen Incident broke out on June 4th, 1989, performing collectively and separately at the same time. As a satire on the political hypocrisy of the Chinese Communist government, YEUNG created installation work Four Cardinal Principles during the event. The work includes four black party flags and four spittoons, challenging viewers to interact with the spittoons. Since the items that were used in the display are now lost, the exhibition will be showcasing replicas created by the artist. The recreated installation is still highly relevant, highlighting the central theme of tension thirty years on.
