《STAGE》,2006-2013
"STAGE", 2006-2013

The STAGE series uses large cameras to capture captivating images of oil pressure stage vans in real life.

These oil pressure stage vans can be seen in performance groups all over Taiwan. Since 1994, the stage van has gone through various renovations and is frequently used today. Despite the lack of precise survey data, there should be over 600 stage vans that are in use across Taiwan. These vans are available through rentals with van owners driving the vans to appointed locations for use.

The artist hopes that the rich cultural aspects, wandering imaginations, and glamorous designs of the unique Taiwanese industry will allow viewers to form connections and imaginations through the aspects of time and space, as well as horizontal, vertical, two-dimensional and three-dimensional structures. In addition, SHEN also hopes that the compound contemporary elements of STAGE and its focus on the social and cultural landscape of contemporary Taiwan will provide alternative viewpoints and inspire concerns when inspecting the trajectory of contemporary photography in Taiwan.
