林生祥與大竹研在2009年作品「野生」中,以兩把吉他的交會,帶出生動的音樂表情、與天衣無縫的旋律節奏分工,將兩人累積多年的默契推至高峰。

但他們並不以此為限,2010年,在鍾理和文教基金會的邀請下,林生祥將自己農村的日常與鍾理和的文學場景及題材連結,以歌謠的形式探索,與四位南方詩人:鍾鐵民、鍾鐵鈞、曾貴海、鍾永豐,共同改編、重寫、再生鍾理和的文學故事及場景。

出身美濃尖山的鍾理和,是臺灣戰後第一代文學家,他以敏銳的觀察及細膩的筆觸,寫出不同觀看視角與感情的作品,對於女性、族群與階級描寫,都藉由小說體,帶出進步的觀點。今日讀來,我們仍不免感嘆,在那樣壓抑的時代下,文學家仍能有此胸襟與眼界,以及自我養成的強烈的社會批判意識。

生長於美濃的林生祥,晚鍾理和50多年出生,他以擅長的文學音樂形式,詮釋或再現鍾理和的小說,無論在場景、心理、字句、音樂脈絡的呈現上,都極為考究與貼切。

音樂上,林生祥再次回到以月琴創作的思路;但不同於交工樂隊的時代,月琴不再是拼貼的元素。林生祥認真的思考,傳統樂器在現代演出場景的應用,從增弦、定弦到調弦,並實驗各種音響性的可能。他將過去四年專注在吉他上的節奏排練,移植回月琴演奏上,而曾在吉他上思考的月琴應用,折返至月琴,綜合出一種在現代演出條件改變下、仍能不背離傳統的音色。這樣來回建構的音樂思考之路,使他的音樂更為誠懇厚重。

「大地書房」音樂文學的計畫,起念於鍾理和逝世50週年,美濃人集結才華與資源,以紀念這位地方的文學家。然而,在創作與製作的過程中,鍾理和的角色,已不止於一位被紀念的文學家,他鮮活的生活在不同世代的創作人之間,彷彿唯有透過鍾理和,他們才足以跨越時代的交互思考與對談。這可以說是繼90年代反水庫運動攪動起的創作波浪後,另一波文學與音樂的新浪潮,安靜的自美濃鄉間湧動。

Li-He Zhong was born in Jianshan, Meinung Village and was a member of the 1st-generation of post-WWII writers in Taiwan. His sensitive observations and exquisite style of writing allow him to create works of various perspectives and emotional registers. He was particularly interested in topics related to women, tribal groups and social classes and wove them into novels with a visionary impact, which even today impress by his breadth of mind, visions and strong social criticism of those repressive times.


Sheng-Xiang Lin was also born in Meinung, 50 years after Zhong. He re-interpreted and reconstructed Zhong's novels making use of literary styles that draw upon his musical skills. The presentation of scenes, his use psychology, diction and phrasing, and musical motifs are well executed and highly effective.

The musical literature project "Earth Study" was first initiated in memory of the 50th anniversary of Zhong's death and draws upon the talent and resources in Meinung. However, in the process of creating and producing this project, Zhong was no longer merely a writer to be commemorated. His vivid life has inspired artists from different generations who are able to think and talk across the generational divide through Zhong's works. Thus, another wave of literature and music is now appearing in the tranquil countryside of Meinung after the waves of creations stirred up by the anti-dam movement of the 90s.

陳芳明,為當代臺灣文學和史學的研究學者、現任本校臺灣文學研究所所長;「施敏輝」是他眾多筆名中的一個。陳芳明在1990年代以前流亡海外多年,曾經是美國臺灣獨立運動的重要寫手。


Fang-Ming Chen is a researcher and scholar of contemporary Taiwanese literature and history and is currently the chair of the Graduate Institute of Taiwanese Literature

鍾永豐,詩人、作詞人。10餘年的創作歷程中,將客語、民謠和詩歌進行了極具特色的結合。創作了交工樂隊和林生祥的五張專輯,「我等就來唱山歌」、「菊花夜行軍」、 「臨暗」、「種樹」與「野生」專輯中的絕大多數歌詞。其中「臨暗」和「種樹」,讓他兩次獲得金曲獎最佳作詞人獎。
